Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep team up for August: Osage County

Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are in final negotiations to star in the film AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. The film will be based on the Pulitzer-winning play of the same name written by Tracy Letts. The film revolves around a family who has recently lost it’s patriarch and the emotional pains and conflicts that arise within the family. Meryl Streep will play the matriarch of the family who is addicted to drugs and Julia Roberts will play one of the daughters who is going through a marriage crisis of her own. The film will be directed by John Wells and will begin shooting next summer.
With the star power of Roberts and Streep this film will be one to watch out for and will probably generate some Oscar buzz. My only problem is that I”m having a tough time thinking of Julia Roberts as the daughter of Meryl Streep, for some reason that just does not compute to me.
