Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire in set photos from The Great Gatsby

Filming on Baz Luhrman’s remake of THE GREAT GATSBY is underway down in Australia and today we get our first look at Carey Mulligan on the set. We saw some earlier pictures of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire riding around in a vintage car, but now we get to see them in full costume. It’s tough to draw conclusions from set photos, but my initial thought is that this isn’t as colorful as Luhrman’s other films. But Carey Mulligan looks great in her 20’s-era clothing and judging by the pictures, she seems to be having a good time on set. Both she and Tobey Maguire seem destined to play roles in historical dramas since both of them look like they stepped out of a classic movie.

THE GREAT GATSBY stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Elizabeth Debicki. The film is due to hit theaters in 2012.
