Michelle Williams looks like a clone on this new poster for My Week With Marilyn

Posted by: Zack Bruce

I always sort of knew that Michelle Williams would be able to pull of the ultimate Marilyn Monroe impression. Williams physically fits that role and sort of has a soft, sweet voice herself. I hate to say it, but Naomi Watts is going to have a hard time competing.

What is our fascination with this lost icon? Monroe’s life was bittersweet. She was a woman plagued by her own past and insecurities. Fans never much saw that in her films. She presented herself as a bubbly, happy woman who wanted to hold on to the thrills that life had to offer her. There’s always another side to the coin though. We never truly know how celebrities feel in their own personal lives. A fan is only privy to what they see on their televisions and read in magazine stories.

MY WEEK WITH MARILYN only chronicles that. We do not get anymore of her life story, just a short snippet of a time during the filming of THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL. Monroe (Williams) was having problems with Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and her passion for love was sparked again with an employee (Eddie Redmayne) of Olivier’s. This new poster for the film captures how similar to Monroe that Williams really is. It will definitely make you do a double take.
