Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman coming to Blu-ray in September

Trailing behind the news that work has already begun on a Kenneth Branagh-less THOR 2, Marvel and Paramount have officially announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of THOR.  The Blu-ray will have over 80 minutes of features, which could be great stuff like deleted scenes and in-depth documentaries, or it could be fluff pieces like throw-away making-of featurettes and promotional pieces.  It will also have a peek at THE AVENGERS, but to what extent, we don’t know.  Hopefully, we’ll get a commentary from Kenneth Branagh and he’ll go through and explain some of his decisions.  For now, though, all we have is the cover art.

The film will arrive in three different formats; Blu-ray, DVD and a limited edition 3D Blu-ray combo pack.  Given that THOR had some of the worst 3D of the summer, I’d save the money and buy the regular Blu-ray version.  THOR stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo, Idris Elba and Stellan Skarsgard.  We will update you as soon as the special features are revealed.
