Top ten Game of Thrones villains…so far

Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones

3. Ramsay Bolton (Snow) – This psychotic monster takes pleasure in bringing pain and fear to others. While Theon Greyjoy may have deserved punishment for his betrayal to the Starks, no one deserve the suffering that Ramsay inflicts. He enjoys hunting people for sport and is now married to Sansa Stark. Responsible for one of the larger outcries from the viewing public, Bolton steals his wife’s virtue through physical brutality. I think Ramsay is more dangerous than the previous psychos simply with his ability to be fully aware of the consequences still thinking and choosing to deliver his torturous ways.

Petyr Baelish in Game of Thrones

2. Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish – “A man with great ambition and no morals.” Yes, Petyr might be controversially high on the list as he isn’t near as monstrous as some of the others.  My high placement for Petyr is strictly due to respect.  The most underrated character in “Game of Thrones,” Petyr (superbly portrayed by Aidan Gillen) is everyone’s friend and everyone’s enemy.  We just hope that his goal to sit on the iron throne doesn’t involve going through one of our favorite characters.  He is the one true player in this game. Slowly and steadily rising in power from his humble beginnings as a low born, Baelish has had his conniving hand in just about every major event –   The downfall of Ned Stark, the deaths of Jon Arryn and King Joffrey, an instigator in the War of the Five Kings and I’m sure many others.  While his part isn’t as prominent in the books, from a thinking man’s perspective, he is the single most dangerous and scariest person alive in the show. Which brings us to…

Game of Thrones

1. The Night’s King (White Walkers) – While we may not see them too often, the series opens with our number one villain and man’s number one threat, so we know just how important they must be to the overall story.  After one of my favorite episodes from Season 5 titled, “Hardhome,” we learn just how dangerous and powerful these frozen dead truly are. After they kill nearly an entire society of wildlings, with the simple lift of the arm by The Night’s King, the dead rise up and join The White Walkers’ army, clearly landing them as the most dangerous foe in “Game of Thrones.” Jon Snow, we need you more than ever.

Game of Thrones

Dishonorable Mention: Stannis Baratheon / Melisandre – Some may try to argue that Stannis is a good guy.  He used the dark powers of Melisandre to kill his brother Renly Baratheon. Later he gave his young daughter up to be burned alive as a sacrifice to the lord of light. That deed has the honor of possibly being one of the worst actions by any character in the show… and that’s saying a lot.  However, he sort of gets disqualified because of the parameters I set. He did appear to struggle with his decisions and ultimately regretted his mistake.  They also aren’t in direct conflict with most of our heroes.  But their despicable deeds deserved some sort of mention.
