Channing Tatum, Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis star in the G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer

I wouldn’t go as far as to say I liked the first trailer for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION, but I will say I at least found it intriguing. G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA was almost unwatchable, but it looks like they’re going a different/better route with the follow-up. And before anyone points it out to me, yes, I know that they’ve ripped off a ton of different movies and the innocent-guys-on-the-run schtick has been worn thin in action movies these days, but there’s something about seeing Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow and Jinx in action. If they follow a heavy dose of those three, then they can’t go too wrong. And it also looks like Dwayne Johnson officially takes over as the star for Channing Tatum, who was barely in the trailer. And maybe it was my imagination, but does he get killed off early on in the trailer?

The film stars Channing Tatum as Duke, Dwayne Johnson as Road Block, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Lee Byong-Hun as Storm Shadow, Elodie Yung as Jinx, Adrieanne Palicki as Lady Jaye, D.J. Cortona as Flint and possibly Bruce Willis as General Joe Colton. Jon M. Chu is directing the film that hits theaters on August 10th, 2012.
