Zack Snyder is set to lead a Star Wars movie, but not Episode 7

Zack Snyder

A lot of fanboys hate Zack Snyder, but I think he’s a pretty decent director.  Although it’s true that SUCKER PUNCH and LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS were virtually unwatchable, I really enjoyed 300 and especially WATCHMEN.  So I think the key to Snyder’s success is that he has to have a good story to have a shot and with that in mind, I bring you news that Zack Snyder is set to lead up the first parallel movie in the Star Wars universe.  While the world waits to see what will happen with Episode VII, I find it odd that Disney would announce a parallel movie, but I guess we’ll take what we can get.

Of course, we don’t have any details as to what Snyder’s Star Wars film will be about, only that it borrows heavily from Kurosawa’s SEVEN SAMURAI and will take place after RETURN OF THE JEDI.  But it’s believed it won’t feature any recognizable stars, but will definitely be familiar to the Star Wars universe.  It’s also not clear whether or not he’ll direct or just take on producing duties.  It should also be noted that it’s not even confirmed this will be a live-action film.  Snyder does have experience in the computer animation department, so this very well could be an animated film.  As always, we’ll give you more details when they come out. UPDATE: Well, it looks like this was a rumor after all.  THR made some calls and Snyder has no involvement with any Star Wars film.  But where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so I’m guessing some legitimate Star Wars news is coming soon.
